21 Fun, Easy Ways to Celebrate Customer Service Week

Customer Service Week is coming up this October 7-11, and it's the perfect opportunity to celebrate your team's hard work. Here are 21 fun, low-cost ways to make this year's celebration memorable!

#1: Decorate!

This year’s official theme is “Above and Beyond,” so if you’re looking for décor ideas, consider an outer space theme. Have a remote team? Design Teams or Zoom backgrounds to share.

#2: Host a kickoff breakfast.

Share your plans for the week, set the tone for the celebrations and invite company executives to speak. Want to include remote team members? Have breakfast delivered to their homes or share Doordash gift cards and stream the breakfast on Zoom.

#3: Give out awards.

Recognize your service team members who “go above and beyond.” Whether you print out certificates, plaques, trophies or hand out another unique memento, a little recognition goes a long way! Want to tie it all back to the theme? Consider giving out some outer space themed swag.

#4: Bring in a motivational speaker.

Ask your CEO or hire someone prominent from your community to speak about the importance and impact of customer service. Livestream the event for remote and hybrid employees.

#5: Recognize the teams that support your success.

Get marketing, sales and IT in on the fun, too! Create certificates to share with all the teams that help enable great customer experiences.

#6: Send thank you cards to your customers.

Show your customers you appreciate their loyalty by sending personalized thank you cards. It’s a thoughtful way to strengthen relationships and acknowledge their role in your success.

#7: Handwrite a thank you card to every agent.

Take the time to personally thank each member of your team with a handwritten note. This simple, heartfelt gesture will make your agents feel valued and seen.

#8: Post video messages on social media thanking the customer service team.

Publicly recognize your team’s hard work by posting short thank you videos from leaders on your company’s social media channels. It's a great way to boost morale while highlighting your customer service team to a broader audience.

#9: Design a special shirt or hat to commemorate the week.

Celebrate the week by designing custom shirts, hats or other swag for your team. These items serve as a fun, wearable reminder of their important role.

#10: Volunteer as a team.

Get together for a meaningful team-building experience by volunteering for a cause your team cares about. Whether it’s in-person or virtual, giving back together fosters teamwork.

#11: Give out contact center superlatives.

Have some fun by awarding team members superlatives, such as “Best Problem Solver” or “Most Likely to Save the Day.” This lighthearted activity can inspire plenty of laughs.

#12: Play a guessing game.

Fill a glass jar or vase with candy (M&M's) and include a $25 gift card. Have your staff guess how many M&M's are inside. The closest guess wins the gift card.

#13: Build a team playlist.

Create a collaborative playlist with your team’s favorite songs and play it during the week. For remote teams, share the playlist on Spotify or YouTube.

#14: Build an inspirational quotes wall.

Create a virtual or physical wall of motivational quotes. Encourage employees to add their own favorite quotes about customer service or teamwork.

#15: Create a shout-outs board.

Set up a space where team members can write or post shout-outs to each other. For remote teams, you can use a Slack or Teams channel dedicated to shout-outs and kudos.

#16: Host a desk or makeover contest.

Have a contest for the best-decorated workspace, whether in the office or home. Give out prizes for the most creative, funny or unique setup.

#17: Play customer service trivia.

Organize a trivia game based on fun facts about your team, company or customer service industry. Use free quiz platforms like Kahoot.

#18: Coordinate an "Above and Beyond" storytelling session.

Have an informal meeting where employees share stories about times when they went above and beyond for a customer. Recognize their efforts and encourage others to contribute.

#19: Hold a team talent show.

Invite employees to share their hidden talents. Whether it’s singing, drawing, or even magic tricks, it’s a great way to showcase individuality.

#20: Have company leaders perform random acts of kindness customized to each team member/employee.

Encourage leadership to engage in small, personalized gestures for each employee, like delivering a favorite coffee or offering a quick note of praise. This adds a personal touch and shows employees they’re truly appreciated.

#21: Spotlight positive customer reviews.

Collect and display customer reviews that praise your team for their service. This can serve as both a motivational boost and a reminder of the positive impact your team has on customer experiences.
